My dad's family married into the Cherokee and I have ancestors buried in Cherokee North Carolina, but the records for the Cherokee all burnt up in a fire in 1970. Documenting that part of my family is going to be tough although my grandfather spoke Cherokee.

Well I actually don't know what any of my background may be.. I'm hoping to find out soon with a history DNA test being done.. They have extracted the DNA and are in the process of analyzing it.. Should get something back in a couple of weeks..

Some of the facilities that do the testing such as Ancestry dot com don't have the samples from the Southeastern tribes; just the ones in Oklahoma.
